“Lovely small country house hotel in attractive gardens. Very comfortable bedrooms. Rather formal lounges would be improved by less bright lighting. Lovely historic dining room but lights very bright and not relaxing. easy to change lighting issues. A fire would have been nice. Helpful friendly staff able to accommodate a late arrival and dinner. Super food of locally sources dishes - not cheap. Great breakfast. A bit mean to have a surcharge on cheese and biscuits. Had I realised this by reading all the small print on arrival cold and tired, I would not have had the cheese. Owners do not like dogs. Mine was happy in the car and there are nearby footpaths. Staff like dogs but mine remained unseen!”
“our room was booked as superior, but was no better than standard rooms though a bit bigger. we had demi pension and the meals were excellent. the wine cellar was extensive and appeared reasonably priced”
