“the situation was perfect for us as we wanted to do plenty of easy walking , The staff gave us an excellent walking leaflet which we used and found very helpful. We dined at the Speech House and with the excellent breakfast this is all we required. Staff were very pleasant. The accomodation was cosy --maybe a little tired but suited us.”

“staff very helpful and friendly . Location great acomodation lovely breakfast fantastic fresh tasty and a very good selection.”

“We booked a double room in the courtyard and were given a family room in the cottage , also in the courtyard. The room was very spacious and comprised a double room and adjoining suingle room and an enormous bathroom. Tv iin both rooms and a washbasin in the single room . Large comfortable double bed. It was quiet even though it faced a side road. The main building, a 17th century hunting lodge was fabulous and furnished as one might expect for such a grand country house. A good bar serving local beer. Service and attendance was faultless. Breakfast was in the Verderers(?) room and a la carte and a wide and generous range of breakfast food. The courtyard rooms were far cheaper and appeared better value than staying in the main house.”

“The little fire in our four poster room was a lovely touch. The food was absolutely gorgeous and homemade fresh.”

“Service very good, there was a firework and bonfire display on next to hotel which made it very busy, but that did not effect the service we received ,”

, United Kingdom

“We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay in one of the courtyard rooms. We were able to park just opposite our room which made it very convenient. The room was spacious with two easy chairs. The wardrobe, drawers and tea making facilities were in a separate alcove. The shower was very efficient and it was lovely having a cupboard in the bathroom to put our toiletries. Breakfasts were excellent with a good variety of food on offer. Especially nice was that I could have porridge and then a cooked breakfast if I wanted it. We had 3 evening meals in the orangery which were all great and good value. Hopefully we'll return soon.”

“The hotel is very old and historic and has a lot of atmosphere. Quiet, comfortable suite in the courtyard. Lovely food and plenty of it.”
