“The location is unbeatable, with the views from their terrace over the sand dunes unmissable. The hotel is designed, on the outside, like a local fort and looks very impressive. The same can be said for the out buildings, resplendent with red Chinese lanterns.”
“Had a great Chinese historical environment in the room and in the rest of the hotel. Great breakfast , two restaurants , a Chinese and a western style restaurant both serving very good food. There is a moderately price retail outlet. Service is very quick . Clean bedrooms. ”
“This is a beautiful, grand hotel. Although the town of Dunhuang is not within walking distance of this hotel, there is a wonderful Buddhist temple along the main road, a short walk from the hotel. You need to take a taxi to Dunhuang town but altho the hotel offers an hourly shuttle to town, we never could meet its schedule. Hotel service was great: rooms immaculate, housekeeping excellent, and great hotel restaurants (one Chinese restaurant serving authentic food, and one rooftop restaurant serving breakfast buffet with Western and Chinese food, Western lunch/dinner and late night cocktails). The view from the rooftop restaurant is wonderful. The hotel shops also offer unique souvenir items as well. The architecture and design of the hotel really evokes the cultural stature of Dunhuang in the history of the Silk Road.”
