Before dinner you are directed to either a comfortable lounge or the beautiful patio overlooking the river for aperitifs and delicious canapés. As you come down from your room for dinner you are greeted by the staff dressed in black tie evening attire.”

“A beautiful hotel in perfect surroundings managed with skill and good taste. Idyllic terrace with lawns running down to the river. Flowers everywhere and beautifully kept gardens. Did not dine in on this trip but the breakfast was perfect – clean white napary, freshly-squeezed orange juice good croissants (a rarity), proper kippers (not boil-in-bag rubbish) and the best cooked and presented bacon and eggs I have had in a very long time. Rooms spacious, comfortable and furnished in good taste. Not often nowadays that one finds a hotel where everything is done properly – this is one of them.”
