“This is a quirky place and has stood there since the 16th century so don't go looking for shiny and new if you want that this is not the place for you (floor in our room was aged but the marble had been there since 1603.) Instead, go to appreciate the history of the place and it has some history that they are proud to share. It is clean and Francoise the owner, manager, breakfast deliverer, is absolutely lovely. The local area is fantastic and far enough away from the red light district to feel comfortable walking the streets. It is by a canal with super local cafes and restaurants.”

“We have been to Amsterdam a few more times before and the hotels were always the one thing that let Amsterdam down for us. Not the Posthoorn though! This place was magnificent and Francois was the perfect host, he made us feel at home throughout our stay! The room was great, we had the canal view room in one of Amsterdam's prettiest neighborhoods! The room was immaculately clean, the bed very comfortable, great bathroom facilities and extras (even had a hair iron in the room!), and the breakfast was superb! The area has a very 'local' feel to it which is exactly what we wanted to experience, away from the unattractively touristy-packed center. A short walk to everywhere with many restaurants and bars for a truly unique Dutch experience.! We are definitely going back :)”
