“The hotel exuded luxury without losing its vintage integrity. We were only there one night, so I am not sure about the strength of the location. We had a Black Taxi Tour (a must) and a driver of our own, so we didn't walk around the neighborhood. All in all, we are glad we stayed at the Merchant. It is beautiful! We had a huge art deco room and our friends had an equally large Victorian room. The restaurant was excellent and very grand.”

“The hotel is stunning, staff all really friendly and helpful and the food was superb. The lovely lady on reception gave us lots of helpful suggestions for things to do and looked after our cases until the afternoon, as we arrived too early for check-in due to our transport arrangements. We had lunch in the cocktail bar, a glass of prosecco in the roof top jacuzzi and dinner in the great room, followed by a cocktail and live jazz in burts bar. The hotel had asked whether we were celebrating anything in particular when I called to book for dinner - we were, our five year anniversary - and they made a fuss of us on account of that which was lovely and very unexpected.”
