“Great inn with a fascinating history. The rooms are being refreshed and ours was lovely and cosy with the old wood panelling nicely contrasting with a modern room. Nice hot power shower and perfect darkness with the blind down. We slept really well. Also it’s a 10min walk from the train station which is always a benefit in my mind.”

“The staff were kind and thoughtful, the room (Queen Anne I think!) was beautiful (clean, huge, very comfy bed, loads of wardrobe space, large bathroom). Breakfast was HUGE with lots of choice. The 'event' meal was 'ok' for a large catered (pre-ordered) group. Nicely set up public areas including seating by the river. Parking is in the adjacent 'pay & display' - not quite sure how this worked in not being full of non-paying guests, but guests register at reception so their parking is free, and we had no problem with finding a space.”
