“Parkhotel Bad Schandau was a great choice for a weekend getaway with my daughter. It's perfectly located for visiting both of the national parks (Saxony Switzerland in Germany and Bohemian Switzerland in the Czech Republic). Because we spent our days hiking, we regrettably didn't have very much time to relax in the hotel's beautiful garden/pool area. Next time, I look forward to reading a book in one of the comfortable chairs next to the pool while watching the Elbe flow past. Non-German speakers may find it a bit challenging to communicate with the hotel's staff. They staff were, however, always helpful in locating another staff member who had a better command of English. I will happily return to this hotel for another weekend getaway. It would be a great base for a cycling vacation because it's right on the Elbe Cycle Path (Elberadweg).”

“We were hiking the Malerweg Trail for two days and enjoyed our stay very much. The average guest age was older than us, and we were traveling with kids 20 and 22 years old, but we were tired from hiking each day and the hotel was a great place to relax. It has nice proximity to the town of Bad Schandau for eating and shopping and the hotel restaurant was very good, especially the included breakfast and it was beautiful to sit both inside and outside on the patio. Our German is terrible and the staff was very friendly and helpful, helping us to plan our trip to each trail head using public transit (boat, train & bus), and rescuing us by sending a taxi to Hohnstein Eiche when we arrived after a long hike to find we had missed the bus. Rooms were spacious, beds comfortable, and we had a wonderful view of the Elbe. Thank you for making our stay very enjoyable.”

“This was our fourth visit to this particular hotel, so we clearly like it. It is located right on the banks of the Elbe and has lovely views. Bad Schandau is a small, quiet village, with just a few shops for basic items. It is an excellent area for walking/hiking and cycling - either on completely flat terrain (on both sides of the river) or up and through some exceptionally steep terrain (including metal ladders bolted to rock faces!). So it is an excellent place for both relaxation and some fairly energetic activity. The hotel also has a very good restaurant.”
