“The rooms were big with am amazing ocean view and nicely decorated. The staff and the owner were exceptionally nice to us. ”
“Food is amazing, very fresh and cooked with passion, the chef is very experienced, fish is caught fresh everyday straight from the sea, the owners are so welcoming and staff are very friendly and they all made us feel at home- it’s an absolute must visit place and I will recommend to anyone looking for a nice and quite place to relax. I will go back without any doubt.. I am already planning my next visit 🙂”
“The property is absolutely gorgeous! They have a massive garden with tropical trees and fruit, a beautiful opening to the beach and the villas on site are done in traditional Swahili style. From what I understood the management has changed in the past few months so they have been working to get new chefs and new staff as well as modernize the property. I’d say they are doing a good job! The food was good and they also prepared vegetarian options. Rooms were clean and they even provided towels and bath products. I was surprised at the quality of service offered for this price! Would definitely recommend!”
“We stayed at Panga Chumvi Resort for the final part of our trip to Zanzibar and it was simply perfect... a little gem in the northern part of the island. The natural beauty of the helped us get the relaxation days we wanted. The owners, Adrian and Gabriela, were very warm and helpful with us every time we needed. Also their staff were more than glad to help all the time. The food at their restaurant was fabulous.... very tasty and fresh every day, best see food we had ever. Will definitely come back, we already are searching for plane tickets. Best experience of Zanzibar.”
“We are so happy we chose Panga Chumvi for our stay in Matemwe. This place is beautiful! The owner (Gabriela) had such a great passion and energy to make sure that we enjoyed our stay and felt relaxed the whole time. Ths staff were genuinely happy (not just smiling for the guests), The rooms were large and clean and the food in the restaurant was fresh and very tasty. Oh, and we got a free Coconut from the staff while sunbathing! :D The beach is stunning and the biggest bonus is that you are a 5-10 minute boat ride from Mnemba Island. We snorkeled with a pod of 20 Dolphins and it was the highlight of our trip. If we ever return to Zanzibar then I would definatley choose Panga Chumvi. High quality and very relaxing.”
“New owners and staff are very friendly. Excellent chef. New renovations.”
“I stayed over the night at this hotel before passing to the mainland. The manager Adrian (recently took over the place) was very helpful. He offered me a dinner which was unexpectedly amazing. Location of the place is beach front and wonderful. I definitely go back there for a longer vacation.”
“Rooms are right on the beach which is beautiful, clean and safe. Nice food, helpful pleasant staff in restaurant and housekeeping.”
“The room was ok, and there were sunbeds to use just outside. The food and restaurant service was, however, below what could be expected. We only ate here the first day, then walked up the beach to locate another restaurant. The second morning we had to leave at 7:30 am and was there fore breakfast at 7:00. We informed the waiter that we were in a hurry, but nevertheless, the breakfast arrived 2 minutes before we had to leave... and the omelet was cold, so I have no idea what they were doing, but definitely not servicing us. We ended up checking out 2 days early and walked up the beach to another hotel. The checkout was a pain as well.... the manager was not there and it took 3 hours for him to arrive. Then he calculated back and forth between currencies. Good thing that I had kept records and new what we were supposed to pay, otherwise he would have has us pay more. All in all, not a good experience-”
“We stayed 4 nights at Panga Chumvi. Nestled between 2 villages the hotel is on a lovely bit of remote beach with the whitest Sands. It supports the local community providing them jobs and opportunities. Despite being positioned in quite a rural area we had running water, reliable WiFi in the room and fans (no ac).The rooms were very comfortable and cleaned every day. It is the perfect spot to sit, relax and do nothing. The owner was very personable and extremely helpful. Ali was the go to guy for organising tours and day trips from the hotel. He was lovely and took us through one of the villages and on a morning of snorkeling at very reasonable prices.”
