“The hotel was ideally located and easy to find. Dorothy. one of the ones at the main desk, was extremely helpful and went out of her way to make our experience at the hotel extra special; as did Mrs. Pitman, at the bar (and Dorothy) in arranging our "Kiss the Cod" and "Screeching In" experience. They both also helped us find out where there were community suppers so we could also take in some of the local culture, foods, etc. This was what made our stay extra special and memorable. The extra positive human interactions, that are not necessarily required as part of their job, make them an extremely valuable asset to the hotel and cannot be underestimated in helping people decide on whether they will make a return visit. The room cleaning service/laundry ladies are also exceptional and it cannot go without mentioning how helpful, professional, and friendly they were.”

“The hotel looks nice from the outside and is clean inside. The restaurant was working limited hours, because of the off-season, only "continental" breakfast was served (but it was made complimentary, so who am I to complain?) and dinner was served from 5 to 8 pm with tasty, but limited options. The location of the hotel was very ideal for the daily hikes in Gros Morne with the Northern, Southern and Central parts of the park in a reasonable distance from the hotel.”

“I liked the location. The view from our room was beautiful. The room was very clean and the restaurant served delicious food. The staff were friendly. They were interested where we were from..what our itinerary was..they gave us very useful information..”

“An excellent late May stay at the Ocean View Hotel, in spite of 6" of snow, a power outage, and a boil order afterwards when the water treatment plant had issues. The staff were super friendly, keeping us updated on what was going on and providing water for brushing teeth and drinking when the boil order occurred. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet (except for the early morning plow going by but that was only momentary and definitely necessary!)”

“Staff very friendly and helpful. Food at the restaurant was excellent. Located close to laundromat, gift shops, and restaurants. Room was very roomy and well laid out. Bed was excellent, slept like a baby!!!”

“We absolutely loved our stay at the Oceanview! Our room opened right out onto the harbour, which allowed for beautiful sunsets. The room location was perfect for us, since we were travelling with a baby and a dog, and we could park our car right outside the room for ease of access. I also appreciated that we didn't have to go through the front of the hotel to access our room, we had a key to the outside door. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially the woman at the reception when we checked in (whose name escapes me). The art on the walls in the lobby and upstairs was gorgeous, I really loved that they showcased local artists. The breakfast was what you would expect: toast, cereal, muffins, yogurt, etc. and the hotel restaurant was closed for the season still, but the restaurant next door was a lovely, warm little place!”

“For a better view, ask for the second floor. 1st floor, parked cars may obstruct the view.”

“There was no hot water. We would run it for 20.mins then a ok. We would go out then same no hot water.”
