“It came relatively cheap with the Genius discount, compared to other places in downtown San Francisco. The hotel sits very close to the Union Square and the Chinatown. An overall good location for sightseeing, I would say. There's a public garage across the street, which we didn't use. We didn't have a chance to appreciate the music bar since it is closed on Sunday and Monday night.”
“Very clean & central hotel & staff very polite & efficient”
“Excellent front desk service, large comfortable room. Excellent location. Great restaurant and entertainment, loads of character. Good quick breakfast. Would definitely recommend this hotel”
“Old historic hotel vibe, although that came with its downsides too, like a cool old pulley elevator (that was painstaking slow), and no AC or operable windows.”
“An express breakfast is offered free of charge. Live music entertainment is provided in the on-site Burritt Room + Tavern.”
“Nice room on higher floor. Great location in the heart of San Francisco. Paid parking, literally across the street. Clean room, nice touch such as stone wall in room.”
“Great location and room was bigger than expected. On arrival we were given 2 $25 vouchers to spend in the restaurant which was very kind”
“the staff was very good. they offered to make the pull out bed for us.”
“Excellent customer service, shabby chic, superb location”
“The hotel was well situated to enable us to get around and see the city. The entrance lobby and reception area exuded a gorgeous calm but much of the inner part of the hotel was painted in black and red so felt rather dark and overpowering and even a bit menacing. The room was adequate although we should have loved tea/coffee making facilities. The room snacks were ridiculously expensive (a nutty bar was $8 and we bought one in a store locally for a little over $2, so that seems a totally over the top mark up price). The breakfast was very disappointing and consisted of croissants and pastries and bananas and apples and coffee all down in reception for people to help themselves. However we ate at the restaurant in the evening and the service was excellent as was the food which arrived promptly and was delicious. So all in all this hotel is a really mixed bag.”
