“The room was large, clean and nicely furnished. The bed was comfortable and the shower was very good. The owners were very nice and helpful about explaining the area. Breakfast was nicely presented and tasty although the selection was a bit limited. Sitting around the pool in the afternoon was also nice. We enjoyed the local restaurant about 5 minutes from the house. For other restaurants and the beach you needed to go into the town of Altura about a 10 minutes drive down the hill to the ocean. Tavira was about a 30 minute drive away and made for a nice day trip. As the house is located in a rural area a car is really a necessity.”

“As it is away from any street, is peaceful and quiet. Great space to relax. The breakfast is very good although it could be more variable for long term clients. Our room was pretty spacious, comfy bed and the kitchen a bonus. Susana and Solange took really good care of us and also Alexandre, very helpful. they'll also give you tips of restaurants and landmarks to visit. The pool space is cute and small but I guess is sufficient for only 9 rooms. Free parking space.”

“We had a great time at Alexander's place. After a warm welcome we found the perfect hide-out, calm, a bit secluded and with all the comfort you need. After a nice breakfast with local produce we got the perfect tips for nearby things to see & do, the best places to eat & drink, the calmest and most beautiful beaches around… and all this just a good half an hours drive from Tavira and Faro. We've got this address bookmarked among our favourites and will surely be back !”

“This is an excellent place to stay. Very quiet, a magnificent view and only 5 minutes away from the beach. Alexander makes you immediately feel at home in his wonderful house. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the Algarve hoping to stay away from the touristic busy spots!”

“The whole accommodation was just a total delight. From smooth check-in, stylish room (apart from the very cool and artistic vibe of the room I'd like to stress out that the bed was exceptionally comfortable) with great and spacious bathroom, lovely surroundings (there are sunbeds and hammocks not only by the pool but all over the garden) to tasty breakfast (mix of sweet, salty, fruits, local products - heaven). We were especially happy with the owners and staff, everybody was super nice and Alexandre (the owner) spent a lot of time on giving us tips for the neighbourhood (therefore we had excellent time at the beach and some amazing dinners) and also discussed with us the history of the region and other interesting topics concerning not only Portugal. His wife is probably the kindest person in the world. Overall absolutely perfect!”

“Just a perfect stay. The owners and everyone at Monte do Malhao made us feel so welcome. Everyday we had a fantastic breakfast, the pool was great and the setting picturesque and tranquil. It is further from the coast than other hotels but this was a plus as it was so quiet (apart from the odd chicken and dog bark). Such great value for money, stylish mix of furniture old and new. We will come back again.”
