“The positive: The staff are friendly and well-meaning, and they run a popular and charming neighborhood pub on the first floor. The cleaning staff is thorough and, during the day and evening at least, the hotel staff is available and responsive. They were helpful in getting us oriented, calling taxis, and offered to give us coins for the bus fare. The staff's warmth made up for much of what we found wanting in the hotel.”

“I am a doctor and was here to attend an exam preparatory course, chose to stay here because it had a free car park, the place was good for the money, had an independent room and had an attached toilet. The Mersey Hotel almost touched my expectations, as it had a huge room, with a clean and decent size attached bathroom. The view from my room stayed as my facebook status for a day and got huge likes lol so I suppose its a thumbs up. I didn't use their internet as I was using my own, staff was superb!! Carpark although a bit difficult to find especially at night but eventually got there (God Bless Google Maps LOL). All I can say is its a very good place for a couple looking for fun, or a sad single coming to attend a course, and what do you know I have booked it again for my next course already! ( it's cheap man!)”

“Very comfy bed and extremely friendly staff. All the locals in the bar were very friendly too. Lovely views of the Mersey and homage to local bands like the Stone Roses who played the legendary gig at nearby Spike Island.”

“Old fashioned b&b a little updating would be nice but having said that it was clean and comfortable and the bedroom was very large plenty of space with big windows overlooking the rear of the property. It is also a pub so if you want a drink that's great. The view from bedroom window was great.”
