“As you pull into the driveway the house and grounds are stunning. A warm welcome awaits you at reception by the owner, who only purchased the property a few months ago. A two minute stroll to the left of the property has you in the National Park with plentiful fishing spots, if that is your thing, if not, then strolls through the woods and around the lake are beautiful and so tranquil. We had half board and were astounded by the excellent quality of the set menu, which was al a carte, and three courses plus cheese. Gluten free was no problem and the chef went out of his way to ensure I had a sweet as well, as the menu option wasn't, suitable for me. We can't praise the chef enough, this was the only establishment across 10 days of travelling who had any understanding of dietary requirements and went out of his way to ensure I still eat very well.”

“Tranquil location set in a forest and adjacent to a lake. Excellent - and improved - restaurant makes this a good hotel to stay in. They've added an outside terrace where we had pre-supper drinks and breakfast in the morning. Staff pleasant and helpful.”

“The bed was most uncomfortable. On one side in particular my wife had to use the two both towels to bolster the mattress which had a big dip in it. Not at all good for was what shown as a superior room!”

“The forest setting was lovely and provided ample walks for those travelling with dogs or those just wanting fresh air. The restaurant was well decorated and the evening meal was delicious and good value. The host was friendly and welcoming on reception and sorted things out in the restaurant. The outside space looked inviting but the weather was unsettled so we did not use it.”
