Port of Naples is a great choice for travellers interested in atmosphere, pizza and Old Town exploring.Romeo hotel’s building is the formerly Palazzo Lauro, historical site of Lauro's naval fleet and symbol of a hardworking and enterprising Naples forever dedicated to its maritime vocation. This iconic building, designed with the criteria of modern architecture in a traditional city context, was fully renovated in 2008 by a prestigious Japanese firm with focus on both modernity and dialogue with the surrounding natural landscape. Glass façades portray the clarity of the sea; curvilinear shapes evoke the waves; the lack of structural barriers deceives the eye by giving the impression of being on a ship’s deck. Even the names of spaces recall maritime notions and the rooftop restaurant is a manifest tribute to the ship-owner Achille Lauro, nicknamed as “o’ Comandante”, the Commander. Actually, the view from the top floor brings to mind a ship's bridge from where one dominates the port and the bay in a never still landscape, never identical. With its apparent contrasts between Japanese precision and Neapolitan vivacity, design and ties to the land, antiques and contemporary art, the Romeo hotel merges two souls: modernity and tradition; international momentum and local roots. With a stay at Romeo Hotel, you'll be centrally located in Naples, steps from Naples Town Hall and Piazza del Municipio. “The room was simply stunning, stayed in the wellness suite and was everything and more than I expected. The service was exceptional, having been in contact with the hotel for weeks prior to my stay they were able to organise a florist to come out and decorate the room for me exactly as I had asked so I was able to propose to my girlfriend during my stay. I would highly recommend the hotel and the restaurant Il commandante. Thanks guys”
