“When I first entered Hotel MS La Herrería Confort, I was certain I had discovered a true gem just a few blocks from Plaza de Caldas, the city center of Popayan. The historic home converted into a hotel was brimming with character, both inside and out. The original wood floors, the classic Spanish architecture, the stairs leading to charming views of the city rooftops and streets, the fresh flowers and the furniture adding quality and a sense of time forgotten. The hallways were adorned with photos of the city and posters from the frequent religious festivals. The room was small but fresh, a window overlooking a small courtyard. An armoire was just right for our belonging. And the room quiet and peaceful to add to the comfortable bed. The breakfast was small but adequate; eggs, fruit, bread, coffee or hot chocolate but not a marmalade or jam to be found. We stayed two nights.”

“We loved the hotel! We went there for new year's eve and actually planned nothing. Eventually the hotel offered us champagne, grapes for the midnight toast. We celebrated with the staff and the other guests. Very nice! Room was big and clean. Location is quite and at walking distance from the center of the city. Breakfast was good, coffee amazing as usual in Colombia.”
