“Very good value. Lovely views. Home cooking. Very friendly and helpful owner.”

“The room was very clean with a stunning view of the town.”

“Excellent location. The stuff was very friendly. Didn't need the TV, the WiFi was good enough. Wish I could come back without the children :)”

, United Kingdom

“This is a lovely little inexpensive hotel - ideal stopover, but not somewhere I would book as a destination, despite the local area being very interesting in terms of geography and history. The hotel has no pretences of luxury or upmarket aims, it does nothing special, however the basics it does deliver, it does do very well. We really enjoyed the home-cooked evening meal, but it might not be to everyone's taste. Real French provincial.”

, Switzerland

“The rooms at Hotel La Chatellenie are very basic but this is reflected in the price. The views from the room and the restaurant are super. We had booked dinner in advance and it was excellent home cooked fare at a very reasonable price, as was breakfast. Its a great location to stop en route on our way to Spain. We chose this location as it is a good day's drive from Calais and just over two hours drive to our next stop in the Gorges du Tarn, which is highly recommended to visit.”

“Ideally positioned for stopover to & from the south of France A good base from which to explore Vulcania Picturesque landscape with great views from the hotel, close to Volvic & in the shadow of a magnificent 11th century chateau Helpful friendly owners Great simple food made from locally sourced ingredients Great value for money”

“This hotel has a fabulous view from the dining room. Book dinner there when you make your reservations. You can see over the entire valley. Walk up to the castle that almost sits on the hotel. Nice hiking, Lovely hosts.”

“Arrived too late for dinner, but they gave us free baguettes so we didn't starve! Didn't stay long, just a stop over en route to visit friends. Great view.Room big enough for a travel cot.”

, New Zealand

“Wonderful location, and great views from the rooms. The table d'hote dinner was good; the breakfast was the usual bread/croissants/jams, but good quality”
