“Our easy going family of 5 stayed for four nights at Hotel Japan Shiga. Although in all of Japan we had the most amazing accommodation experiences Hotel Japan Shiga did not suit our family. We have included our experiences to help you decide if it will suit you. The positives were the two men at the front desk were very helpful, we needed to use an electronic translator as they had very little English however they did everything possible to assist. The location and skiing was excellent however the language barrier would make it difficult if you are not experienced skiers. The breakfast was 1100 yen and good value if you like Japanese food, there was also croissants and rolls available. The Nepalese restaurant within the hotel was excellent.”
“Staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. The meals included for the half board (dinner/breakfast) were plentiful and exceptional quality. We were offered either traditional Japanese or Peruvian (curry) options for dinner and both were 10/10 for variety and quality. Ski rental in the building was easy and very reasonably priced. The room we selected was the traditional Japanese room, which fit two adults and our four kids on futons easily. It was advertised with shared bathroom, but contained a toilet and sink which was a bonus. We loved the onsen bath, such a great experience , that must be tried in Japan! We had a wonderful time at the Hotel Japan Shiga, and would choose again next time we ski ShigaKogen.”
