“Very clean, well designed medium sized hotel. The owners and staff were very friendly. A good sized room with a pleasant view. We enjoyed the breakfast & evening meals. The framed paintings done by the owners' children when they were young are a nice touch. We found it to be a quiet ideal base to explore the island from, away from hectic Funchal. We counted 7 large Monarch Butterflies from the balcony just before sunset. The daily birdsong from the Canaries, Blackcaps & Blackbirds heard from the balcony was excellent.”
“Hotel do Compo staff were pleasant and friendly. It was cosy and comfortable with a small but well maintained swimming pool. Evening meals were on offer in the hotel restaurant where food was home made buffet style quality. For more variety its only a five minute drive down to the village. We walked down in 10 mins but it's a 20-30 minute hike back up depending on your fitness and wine intake! The restaurant called Muralha on the harbour front is worth a visit. For more informal relaxed dining try Parada Brava restaurant bar located away from the main harbour (opposite the bridge next door to the church) which is friendly family run eatery with simple but very tasty food and the complimentary cake was delicious!”

“Ruhige Lage mit tollem Meerblick! Freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal! Sehr entgegenkommend, konnten unser Zimmer am Abreisetag bis 13 Uhr nützen. Auto von Vorteil, da das Hotel ziemlich weit oben am Hang liegt. Frühstück gut, jeden Tag frischen Obstsalat und verschiedene Vollkornbrotsorten. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderer, viele Orte auf der Insel können relativ gut und schnell erreicht werden!”
