“We selected Hostellerie Gilaine because its one-star Michelin restaurant had excellent reviews, with just an occasional moan about the price of dining. At dinner, our experience led us to disagree with Michelin's one-star rating! The food on each plate was easily worth two stars and confirmed that Michelin has lost the plot. They now seem to concern themselves with peripheral nonsense that should never occupy the attention of a professional chef or a discerning gourmet. Alain Gilain is at pains to source the best ingredients, offer a small number of gastronomic dishes, eschew any shortcut in the kitchen or effort to hide the facts on the plate, a la Picasso. Ergo, WYSIWYG! It is unsurprising that Alain Gilain's tasteful and tasty restaurant is well patronised. Forty years ago, the Belgians knew their food; fortunately, there are a few who do so today. As you now know Alain, we'll be back to see you in August!”

“This is a well known Michelin Star restaurant which has rooms above for overnight stays. We've stayed here twice now and is going to become a firm favourite for us whenever we travel between the UK and Europe. The chef is creative and produces knock out food delightfully presented. The rooms are comfortable and ideally located beneath the restaurant so very convenient.”

“Hotel is rustig gelegen in een glooing met mooi uitzicht op weilanden en koeien :-) Mooie grote kamers; een beetje basic van opzet misschien maar warm aangekleed en zeer proper!! Kamers hebben een eigen terrasje met ligbed en stoelen. Het restaurant is top (1* Michelin blijkbaar of alvast dat niveau waardig) met eigentijdse keuken en een zeer mooie wijnkaart!! Bediening is efficient en discreet. Ontbijt is ook fantastisch; geen overdaad maar alles wel doordacht en van zeer goede kwaliteit.”
