“Very friendly staff -- Cesar and Giovanni very helpful and warm. 10 min walk from bus station. 5-10 mins walk to central downtown. Restaurants and bars nearby. 20-30 mins walk to beach. Good buffet breakfast of different types of bread, fruit, yogurt, cheese, meats, coffee, juice (however, no eggs if that is important to you). Rooms are not luxurious, but spacious enough and functional. Atmosphere of the hotel has a nice designer flair, modern, clean lines. Eco-friendly. I had a private room and bath, but the shared hostal looked very nice and great value (also pretty empty so you'd have the place to yourself -- at least while I was there).”
“Bed was comfy, staff was great and friendly, good wifi, good breakfast, access to kitchen was appreciated (to put things in fridge, to boil water in kettle etc.). Great location, walking distance from bus terminal (10-15 min) and from many restaurants and stores and only 2 blocks from plaza des armas.”

“The hosts and all staff were super friendly. The hostal is created with much love, attention to detail. The room was spacious und the setting was great as the room leads to a relaxed and beautifully designed common area. Breakfast was delicious, the kitchen and breakfast area are well done and best you get breakfast until 10.30 am😉 you get value for money and the pricing is very moderate. The location is perfect for la serena it is a short walk to the oldtown and in the same street you have travel offices to book tours, in the hostel you find plenty of information about the trips in the area and you also get support with booking and advice. Bus station is 10 min walk so very easy access. We do not speak spanish so it was a great advantage that english is understood by most of the staff and some actually speak fluently. For us a home from home and i can highly recommend hostal valle mistral!!”
