“This was my first stay at Hawthorn Suites, so as a new customer, I first noticed the quality of the bedding (really, really nice), and the room layout (mine was a "suite", which really is bed area and a sort of separate sitting area with microwave and fridge. The room and commons areas were clean. The front desk staffer said the hotel was full, but I wouldn't have known it from the sound level. I didn't hear anyone. The property is a little set back from the street, so there was little road noise, even with a window open. I didn't take advantage of the breakfast (thanks for the apples, though). Breakfast looked a little better than most chains in this price range. If this is the quality level of a Hawthorn Suites, I'll give them more tries.”

“When I arrived I was comfortable, the I laid down and started to smell old cigarette smoke. I tried to ignore and it got worse. I went to front desk and was told there was no rooms left on the floor. I was told that the hotel had a policy of one side was for smoking and other side was non. Clerk offered to spray room. I was not pleased. I have asthma and that was not an exceptable response. I went back to my room very upset. When I came out with my belongings she gave me a room on same floor. Why did this have to happen for me to get another room. I was very upset.”

“Room was very nice - spacious, modern. Shower was very good. Breakfast was delicious. Shuttle service was greatly appreciated. Good restaurants nearby.”

“I loved my stay at Hawthorne. I was back in Decatur after nearly twenty years, for the Christmas holiday. I was nervous about seeing my family again, and about being in Decatur, for many reasons I won't go into. From the first moment at the front desk, the staff made me feel not only welcome, but taken care of. Christmas Eve Jamie, the kitchen person, went out of her way and gave me a ride to the airport, which she didn't have to do, to pick up a rental. The room was spacious and really nice, with a full kitchen, comfortable sofa and chair, and very comfortable bed. Plus, the bed was made every day by another woman who was equally warm-hearted. Just a great place that I highly recommend for those returning to the Midwest after a long time!”
