What guests loved the most

“Excellent location for exploring the city centre. The structure of the building is fabulous.”

, New Zealand

“The Grand Hotel Bolivar rooms that face the main square are noisy all night long. The rooms are attractive although dated - probably not updated since 1960. The front desk staff is unfriendly and acted aloof to guests. The hotel has its benefits: historic, great views and access to the square and to government buildings, nice for drinks and dining. The shopping nearby is for locals. Miraflores is a better location in Lima for tourists who want to stay in newer hotels with nice restaurants near the beach. There's a lot of crime near the Grand Bolivar - so be careful. Taxi's honk their horns throughout the night, so you'll be up all night if you have a balcony room.”

, USA

“Gran Bolivar is a beautiful but aging hotel. The rooms are large but smell musty and the beds are hard and uncomfortable. The staff is great but can use a smile on their faces. The best part of staying here was the breakfast and the dinner in their restaurant. Again the staff in the restaurant is great but lack the energy needed to lift the spirits up at this hotel. Location is excellent if you want to discover the city of LIma, though the atmosphere deteriorates rapidly after 9PM.”

, USA

“This is what I call a hotel. And very good value for money not your bland box, with no atmosphere. if you want old style, and accomodating staff, stay here. Breakfast is served at your table. Even when I left the staff took my bags to the waiting taxi! Ideal central location. But note, the beds are a little hard, but that was perfect for me. Definatly would stay here again. Added bonus, bar next door serves the best pisco sours in Peru!!!!!!”

, United Kingdom

“Good location in the old, historic part of Lima. Interesting history associated with Gran Hotel Bolivar and charming, old decor.”

, USA

“It was an experience of a bygone era, even though truely needing much upkeep, which also gave it the “romantic” charm. Negative comments re staff, hot water and noise were not encountered. The plaza in front is a fabulous cultural precinct, befitting the epoque of the age of the Hotel.”

, Australia

“It is very beautiful hotel inside and outside. Dispit of it age it has been well maintained and clean Cheers.”

, Australia

“I loved the old elegant beauty, especially the facade, or outer appearance of the hotel.”

, USA

“Lovely colonial hotel with high ceilings, grand staircases, nice bar & restaurant”

, Australia

“The hotel offers a great location in the historical center of Lima. An old hotel with a soul, history and some wrinkles. Spacious rooms.Nice restaurant bar with a terrace.”
