“The whole property is super, shiny, clean. Bed and linens comfortable and classy. Property has nice patio where we were served a great breakfast by friendly, happy to please, staff. Also, fire pit(we sat around a fire on a chilly evening) and hammocks ( perfect view of beautiful avocado trees and mountains). Co-owner Ramon was so helpful and friendly, he made us feel like family.Be sure to check out the roof for great views of the countryside and volcanoes. Within walking distance of restaurants, market, leather district, lovely squares, and museum.”

“Ramon was a most welcoming owner. Everything felt and looked new. They had a small garden and cooked us kale for breakfast from the garden. The staff was super attentive. Great breakfast. My granddaughter said best eggs in Ecuador. We had double beds. Rooms are very adequate and included a tv. Beautiful bathroom. We stayed 2 nights. They made suggestions for great pizza. Quiet. They did laundry for us. Would definitely stay again.”

The proprietor was my personal tourist guide, he directed where I wanted to go and how I could get there. Most of the property is 2 blocks from the bus terminal and two blocks from Town Center.”

“I cannot recommend El Roy enough! Incredible welcoming owner who goes to great lengths to ensure that all guests are comfortable and feel at home. Breakfast is probably the best I've had in a hotel. Always tea and coffee available and the location is perfect; 2 minutes to bus station and a nice 5 minute walk to the main street downtown with the leather market. On the same street as the main plaza & AMAZING restaurants with "carnes coloradas" (the typical dish in Cotacachi). The hotel is incredibly clean, modern, with en suite bathrooms and flat screen TVs in the rooms. Incredible deal....you'd never stay somewhere so nice in the US at such a great price.”

“Roman and Manuela and Anita were exceptional hosts with whom we became instant friends. The facility's interior is attractive with fresh flowers daily and a garden off the breakfast room. The location is within walking distance of the bus terminal, market, church, restaurants, and every part of the life of the community in which you choose to participate. There is easy, economical access by bus or taxi to any destination beyond the city. Be sure to pay extra to get a nourishing home-cooked breakfast made by Anita. Our week-long stay in Cotacachi was made even more memorable because of our wonderful stay at Hotel El Roy.”
