“The building itself is worth the visit. Long, large corridors, spacious rooms, stunning dining room and lounge. The spa area is very nice, just as the old spaces that have been lovingly kept, like the old lift and old telephone booths and switchboard. The swimming pool is art-deco, and (mercy!) sufficiently far away from your room that the sound of children playing there will not disturb your nap. Nap that will be needed after having for lunch the local roast pig and Bairrada wine.”

“We loved the old worldy-ness of the hotel - it must have been so glamorous and modern in its heyday, as the old photos on the walls demonstrate. Much of it is very well preserved and the bedrooms and bathrooms modernised. The reception staff were extremely helpful and accommodating.”
