“Beautifully decorated, cosy but with a feeling of luxury. Good beds, heated floors in bathroom, loved the big shower and the bathtub. Good breakfast buffet. Very friendly personel. Receptiondesk closes at 7pm, if you arrive later it is quite an adventure to find your room in this big castle (which i to be honest still laugh about cause we were late!)”

“Every trip should include a special night (balance the budget with a cheap night somewhere else!) Schloss Matzen is a perfect castle hotel. We loved our night here - wandering the castle, exploring the library, chapel and garden, and an excellent meal outside in the adjacent restaurant overlooking the lake. Our room was on the ground floor, off the courtyard, and beautifully furnished in period style (rather than the ultra modern style of the rooms in many converted castle hotels). Breakfast was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our night in the castle. Highly recommended.”
