“Arrived early in order to enjoy afternoon tea at the hotel (advertised as one of the best in Essex). Was rudely told that this was 'not possible' and so we asked another member of staff who explained that they 'did not have any of the ingredients needed, as people don't usually ask for it'!! Disturbed by loud toilet cistern in next door room during the night as the person in there was clearly ill. Breakfast was stone cold even when we had waited for items to be replenished ... inspite of the signs 'careful hot' alongside the food!! Waitress said they were busy as there was a big party celebrating a birthday the previous night - not good enough!”
