“Had room with King bed. Room was large. Sink area separate from toilet/shower. Dresser was okay. Large closet. Large window - faced another building but let in lots of light. Building was very quiet. Short walk to beach, check-in/rec building, food. Only ate breakfast there - was okay. Hot choices are limited, but does have mini bagels, biscuits, fresh fruit, fruit juice, cereal available. Must buy breakfast tickets in advance.”
“Private Monterey Bay/Pacific Grove beach and vintage arts & crafts architecture - what else??”
“Food was very good. Also enjoyed being able to buy a glass of beer to have before meal. Appreciated the boardwalks which were easy to walk on. Enjoyed the fresh air and being so close to the ocean and being to hear it at times.”
“So quiet as you walk through the property. Lodge is wonderful, huge fireplace, lots of comfy chairs, you can buy food and drinks to have in the lodge, on the patio or take anywhere you want on the property. You can actually SEE the ocean from the steps of the lodge. The beach is fabulous as are the grounds. Filled with wildlife and places to hang out.”
“Clean comfortable room. Kids liked having their own single beds. Nice grounds, easy access to the beach. Enjoyed using the facilities, kids played pool, while we had a glass of wine by the fire.”
“A great retreat in a perfect setting. Peace and quiet right on the ocean with great walking trails.”
“This is a state park facility with buildings designed by Julia Morgan. It's rustic, and I go there because I like rustic. If you are there for the meals, you need to be prepared for buffet style cooking. It's healthful and plenty of it, but a bit expensive. Because of the nature of the Asilomar Center, you're paying for the ambience, acres of wooded property and beach front, and the retreat-like nature. For me, the value for my money is excellent, but others might not feel the same. Special trails for wheelchairs are a great addition.”
“Stunning location and great architecture. The rooms are modest (not luxurious) but they are very quiet and clean. Asilomar has always been my favorite place to visit in Monterey county - central location and spectacular beaches.”
“The location of this property is fantastic - we wanted to stay here because it is the location for one of my favourite films and I've always wanted to visit despite the extremely high cost of a room - we were willing to pay a premium for the location. The beach is literally within a stones' throw and is simply beautiful. The surroundings, Pacific Grove and 17 mile drive are just awesome. We had a sea view room and the view was really lovely. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. We had breakfast in the cafe and it was lovely to sit outside on the patio and have our muffin and coffee looking out at the view/sea.”
“It's easy to walk to the beach and the grounds are beautiful”
