“Large lobby. Reasonable priced restaurants on site. Easy walk from station. Main reason for being in Akita was to go to the Samurai District in Kakunodate (some 68 km) away. Akita is also well served by both Local and Sinkansen trains. if you have the time and are going North to Hirosaki or Aomori or South to Kanazawa, do consider the Local trains. They are much slower but you get to see the Real Japan.”
“There is a 24-hr convenience store downstairs, which is very nice. Beautiful landscape from the windows.”
“We liked the bakery in the lobby area. We also enjoyed walking along the narrow river after dinner. It was so peaceful and the air was so clean and fresh.”
“The Akita Castle hotel is a clean, comfortable and up market hotel in the heart of the - admittedly small - tourist district of Akita. It is next door to the Art Museum which reportedly has the world's largest mural painting - it actually is huge and beautiful. The hotel is in front of the old castle grounds - my room actually had a view of the moat. It is also close to the interesting local folklore museum and the latern's festival centre. The entairtainment district is also close by (5-8 mins walk) and I do recommend the Otafuku restaurant which specialises in the local kiritianpo nabe - the owner and his wife and family were simply wonderful, served me complimentary dishes and even gave me a parting gift. I was pleased with my choice of hotel and thought it was good value for money.”
“It was an easy, no fuss, no extras, place to spend a night. Good central location.”
“Large comfortable twin room with excellent bathroom.”
“Nice staff,Vkean room and public area, easy to go & good location.”
“The hotel is very nice, considering it's in a rather quiet city. The service of the staff is good.”
