Known as "Little Shanghai," Wuxi is situated in Jiangsu Province, 130 km east of the real Shanghai. For most of its 3,000 year history, Wuxi was content to be a country town of southeast China's lower Yangtze Delta, but the plans of other people got in the way. Its waters and beautiful shoreline gardens have inspired poets and painters throughout the centuries.
