Tangier is the ultimate tourist location in Morocco. Located on a beautiful bay and overlooking the Straits of Gilbraltar, you can actually see some of the southern coast of Spain on a clear day.
Although the city has history dating back to 500 B.C., much of the current city was influenced by various European governments since the mid-19th century. The Casbah is still a favority tourist spot, as are the two "Souks" or markets, the Grand Soco and the Petit Soco. Many tourists enter the city via the harbour for visits on a daily basis. Tangier is the principal shipping center for Morocco.
