Among the museums are the Kunsthalle art gallery, the Altonaer Museum specializing in north German subjects and the Oevelgonne Museumshafen (Harbor Museum). The Staatsoper, which dates from 1678, is the site of opera and ballet, and the Musikhalle is the focus of the city's other musical events. Composers Felix Mendelssohn and Johannes Brahms were born in Hamburg. Altstadt (Old Town), site of a medieval settlement, sits at the center of Hamburg. The Deichstrasse is a historic street lined with buildings dating from the 17th century. The Ubersee-Zentrum is the world's largest roofed warehouse.
