“Very laid back owner. Attentive. Loved the Coffe/Cake shop up the road!!!”

, United Kingdom

“Loved the village and the Olde Worlde feel to it. The hotel itself had a similar look and feel to it but had obviously been sympathetically restored over the years. However it was showing wear and tear in a few places and had obviously had a few leaks.”

, United Kingdom

“Large room, very friendly staff, fantastic old building in a beautiful little village location. Food was excellent.”

, South Korea

“Very friendly and attentive staff...accommodation was excellent...would certainly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area.”

“Hard to praise this excellent place highly enough. I arrived tired and stressed after a very challenging week and was immediately welcomed and restored. Lovely, spacious bedrooms, well decorated and furnished, with great beds, pillows and linen/towels. Mugs and a kettle, coffee maker and choice of teas provided. Complimentary bottled water and big glasses. Really good bathrooms - not trendy, just quality fittings, immaculately clean with nice toiletries. No hotel gimmicks (minibar, trouser press etc.) It feels like staying in someone's lovely home. Great pub food and a fine breakfast in the company of Percy the dog. The village is picture post card pretty with some good walks. Difficult to find anywhere this good for a reasonable price in this trendy area of the country!”

“We were at the Royal Oak for our son's wedding and several other family members joined us. We took all the rooms on the Saturday night. The staff were extraordinarily helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they really went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. They provided an ironing board, food for babies & toddlers, and gave over one of the downstairs rooms for us to use. We had a family dinner on the Friday evening - we had organised a menu beforehand with the help of Alicia, the bookings manager. The food was excellent and the wine list was also very good. The beds and pillows are super comfortable. It was great to have the kettle and tea & coffee in our room, as well as some delicious biscuits. Lots of hot water for the shower.”
